DESCRIPTION:NEW FOR 2026 – Summer Regatta Series! \nAn experiment for 2026! The Summer Series is typically held over a very long period\, from May to September. Many boats struggle to complete the full series due to other summer commitments and for those sailing\, RTI\, Cowes Week etc there is a lot to do. \nOther clubs are experimenting with running more regatta type events and so for 2026 we plan to run 3 weekends of 2 day racing. Features being planned: \n\n2-3 races per day\nSplit fleets reflecting boat classes\nCommittee boat starts\nDaily Prizegiving with sponsor prizes\nFood and drink deals at SYC\nEntertainments\n\nWeekends have been chosen in an attempt to avoid clashes with other major UK events. Let’s try it! \nCompetitor attendance and feedback will be used to determine the success of the events and if its repeated in future years. \nTo purchase a meal package for after the race Click Here

DESCRIPTION:Stay connected and safe at sea with the RYA Marine Radio SRC (Short Range Certificate) Course & Exam at Sussex Yacht Club. This one-day course covers all essential aspects of VHF radio operation\, GMDSS procedures\, and marine communication regulations. You’ll gain hands-on experience with voice procedures\, DSC controllers\, and emergency protocols for distress\, urgency\, and safety situations. \nThe course includes both a written and practical exams.  Successful participants receive an RYA SRC Certificate\, typically issued within four weeks. No prior experience is required\, though some home study is recommended. \nThis course is perfect for skippers\, crew\, and anyone planning offshore or coastal passages\, this course ensures you can communicate confidently and legally at sea. \nThe course cost includes the course book (G31) which will be sent to you prior to the course date. \nThere is an exam fee of £76 per person is payable directly to the RYA prior to the course date. \n  \n
