SUMMARY:Shoreham Raft Race 2026
DESCRIPTION:Shoreham's charity Raft Race\, created in 2019 and hosted by Sussex Yacht Club\, was inspired by the much-missed Bath Tub Race. It aims to raise much-needed funds for charity and bring the local community together for a fun event on the water. \nWe aspire to make this an annual\, fun summer event eagerly anticipated by the whole community. However\, it's not just about fun; we also aim to raise funds for local charities. All surpluses over and above the event costs will be passed on to our selected local charities. \nCharties selected for this years raft race will be announced at a later date. \nPlease note: This years tickets can only be purchased in group sizes of 4 to 8 people. We kindly ask that you organise your teams in advance before purchasing tickets for this year’s race. \nThe day begins at 1100hrs. DESCRIPTION:Sailability sessions are run on specially adapted boats suitable for disabled people ro sail or crew and are stable and designed not to capsize. We can accomodate a variety of disabilities such as learning difficulties\, hearing impaired\, sight impaired and wheelchair users. \nInitially\, new recruits sail with a coach on the river\, once safe\, competent and if appropriate\, can then sail solo and even sail regularly with able-bodied members.
