SUMMARY:SUP School 2-Day Instructor Course
DESCRIPTION:Share your passion for paddleboarding and introduce newcomers to the sport as a BSUPA Level 1 SUP Instructor. \nSYC SUP School is delighted to be offering this 2 day instructor course run by local BSUPA trainer Sasha Chisholm. \nAs an existing paddleboarder your skills will already be at demonstration level* and you will be competent on a range of boards with a minimum of 40 hrs SUP experience tucked under your belt. \nThe 2 day course based on and off the water covers. \n\npaddle skills\nsafety\ngroup control\ngeneral SUP knowledge\nequipment\nsite & risk assessments\nteaching psychology\nweather\ntides\nrescue techniques\nteaching drills\n\n\nAssessment comprises of both theory in terms of verbal presentation and written test and a practical on-the-water skills and teaching assessment. \nPre-requisites include: \n\nBSUPA membership\nValid first aid qualification\nMinimum age 18yrs\n40+hrs SUP experience\nCompetent paddleboarder\n\n \nCourse price: £250 inc manual & certificate \nLimited space available.

SUMMARY:SYC Raft Race SUP Social - Pirate theme!
DESCRIPTION:Sussex Yacht Club Raft Race Social\nCome celebrate SYC's Raft Race weekend on the water via SUP in pirate fancy dress!\nThis session is a relaxed\, informal and social paddle with the SYC SUP School instructors available. \nFancy dress is optional! \nThere will be a chance to talk technique\, learn new skills and try some demo boards. We will paddle up and down the river Adur and meet other paddlers and SYC members. \nMeet at the SYC SUP Shack then get out on the water for a couple of hours and\, of course\, an opportunity to have a drink in the bar afterwards. \nSuitable for paddlers with some experience\, not suitable for total beginners - please try a taster session with us first. \nAttendees are welcome to bring along their own boards or hire one from SYC. \nSession cost is £10.00 when hiring a board\, or FREE if bringing along your own board. \nPlease note\, non-members can only attend a total of 3 times for free when bringing your own board. \nDetails for Non-Members:\nNon-members are required to pay an additional £10.00 for day membership which is deducted from your membership fee if you join. \nPlease Note: \n\nA maximum of 3 Day Memberships can be purchased in any 12 month period\nAfter 3 visits\, full membership must be taken up before next water participation\nDay Memberships can be used as discount against full membership within 3 months of the last payment\n\nSUP SESSION INFORMATION\nSession Instructions\n\nPlease arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the sessions commencing.\nParking is very limited and for members only\, please use on street parking in Shoreham and walk to us.\nThe SUP Shack is found by walking past the main building towards the footbridge.\nThe session will start with some land-based training\, before heading out on the river\, and a debrief after the paddle. You are welcome to have a drink in the clubhouse after the session.\nBring a towel\, showers are available in the clubhouse\nFootwear – old trainers or wet shoes - flat soled – you will be able to take your shoes off and keep on the board however when on land will need suitable footwear that may also get wet – if you have a dry bag you can secure it on the board\nSome light clothing (not jeans)\, or a wetsuit\, and some further layers if necessary - Bring a change of clothes – Just in case!\nSunscreen lotion.\nYou are welcome to bring your own Buoyancy aids alternatively the club will provide these for you – everyone must wear these during their session.\nAny medication you may need.\n\nThere will be small lockers available for valuables however SYC cannot be responsible for any of your belongings \nThe session will only proceed in safe conditions this will be assessed by the instructor and postponed in the event of high winds etc. You will be notified via the app/email should this affect your booking.
