As summer draws towards its final weeks, it is the perfect time to look back on what has already been a fantastic season at Sussex Yacht Club — and to look ahead to everything still to come.
From busy days on the water and training courses to racing, social events and time spent together at the Club, the summer has once again highlighted what makes our Club such a special place to be.
A summer full of activity
The warmer months have brought plenty of life to the Club, with members making the most of the longer days and opportunities to get out on the water.
Our sailing and watersports programmes have continued to welcome members of all abilities, while our training programme has provided opportunities for those looking to develop their skills, gain new qualifications or simply become more confident afloat.
Away from the water, the Clubhouse has remained a hub for members and visitors, with events and social occasions bringing people together throughout the season. From catching up with friends after a day afloat to enjoying time with fellow members at the Club, summer has been a wonderful reminder that being part of a yacht club is about so much more than sailing.
Celebrating our members
Of course, a successful season is made by the people who bring the Club to life.
It has been fantastic to see members getting involved across the Club — whether competing at events, taking part in training, volunteering, supporting activities or simply enjoying everything that membership has to offer.
There have been achievements to celebrate, new skills to learn and plenty of memories made along the way. Every member contributes to the character and community of Sussex Yacht Club, and it is this sense of togetherness that continues to make the Club such an enjoyable place to spend time.
And there is still plenty to come...
Although the end of summer is approaching, the season is far from over.
The coming months will bring more opportunities to get afloat, enjoy the Clubhouse and take part in the programme of events still ahead. As the evenings begin to draw in, there is something particularly enjoyable about the transition into autumn — with racing, training, social events and winter activities providing plenty of reasons to stay connected with the Club.
We are also already looking towards the year ahead, with exciting plans continuing to take shape for 2027.
Looking towards the future
A great summer gives us plenty to celebrate, but it also gives us something to build on.
Sussex Yacht Club continues to grow as a community, with opportunities for sailing, training, racing, watersports and socialising all sitting at the heart of Club life. We are excited about what the rest of 2026 will bring and optimistic about an even bigger and better year ahead.
Whether you have been a member for decades or have only recently joined us, there has never been a better time to make the most of everything the Club has to offer.
